sim card replacement

I’ve bought 2 sim cards inorder to replace my old one due to losing the original phone and now i’m trying to replace it with a new phone and a new sim but neither sim works because one was supposedly a “pre-paid” and the other was because it was a new activation for a new number which i’m trying to port my old phone number so none of this makes sense.
