I’m not able to set up visual voicemail on my IPhone X, it says to choose a password and I enter one and it says “error, try again later”

I’ve dealt with a similar issue when I switched to mint recently. I spent hours chatting with support, they switched out my sim card and recommended trying some other dubious things. Nothings helped.
What did the trick for me was the following: I contacted support again and asked them to RESET MY VOICEMAIL. 15min later, I was able to go through the visual voicemail setup process in the Phone app successfully.
I don’t know why they didn’t come up with that…. They tried all kinds of other stuff, as I said, but didn’t think of resetting the service on their side.
